In lieu of the usual evening meeting, our plan is to hold brief sessions for each age group prior to practice, sometime during the first week of practice, details to be announced. The parents meet with the Coaches and League Reps to discuss the expectations of the upcoming season. In addiiton, the Season Calendar is updated, and the Volunteer schedules are outlined.

Our community Pool opens in the late afternoon to allow the Tornados to begin their practices for the upcoming season. This is scheduled for the week of Mother's Day. Practices start at 4:00 PM and continue at this time until the CMS School's last day of classes. See our Practice web page for more information.

The Tornados hold a pre-season meet to prepare the team for the upcoming season. The Time Trials are scheduled during the week preceding the first swim meet. This mock competition allows the team to experience a simulated meet, which allows the team to practice under competitive conditions, teaching the members what is expected of them during a swim meet. Equally important, it gives the Tornados volunteers a chance to meet the other parents and to learn their roles at the meet, i.e., announcers, recorders, timers, scorer, concession workers, etc.

The Tornados hold an end of season party to celebrate the end of the competitive swim competitions. Usually, a dinner is held, with awards being presented, and an evening of fellowship with all who have contributed to the Tornados season. See photos from last year's event.

The Greater Charlotte Swim League holds an All Star Meeting at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center, 800 Martin Luther King Boulevard, in mid July. More details are on the GCSL web site.
